Reunions

Our first family reunion took place between 6–9 August 1999 in Ballina, Swinford, Kiltimagh and Midfield, to mark the 80th birthdays of both Michael and Margaret, with their families in their homesteads of Tavnaglass, Midfield, and Devleash, Kiltimagh.

Our families gathered from places such as Mayo, Dublin, London, New York, Philadelphia and Chicago.

Since then, we have had reunions in Philadelphia in 2005, and Mayo in 2010 and 2016.

2024 Reunion

We are currently busy organising the next Gallagher Brennan family reunion, to take place in Mayo over 9-11 August 2024.

We had originally planned the reunion for 2022 to coincide with 100 years of Irish Independence, but we unfrotunately had to differ the reunion till 2024 due to the on-going global crisis and also the hope that by defering it we would get a bigger attendance.

2024 will be a special year for the reunion as it is the 25th anniversary of the first reunion in 1999, subject to this going well we aim to hold another family get-together in 2027, as this will be a very big year in Mayo’s history as it is the 250th anniversary of the birth of Admiral William Browne (who lived in Philadelphia for a period of time) who was founder of the Argentine Navy and a National Hero in his Adopted country.

This time we are hoping that all the relatives from Mayo, Dublin, London, New York, Philadelphia and Chicago, will be joined by other family members from Galway, Clare, Kildare, Kerry, Leeds, Toronto, Washington, Virginia and Miami, with family of all different backgrounds and cultures.
